The M.O.Mís (Mothers of Mary) Home has been blessed with a new Housemother, Lori Bradford. Lori is an experienced mother of eight, and grandmother. She is a strong pro-life Catholic who will certainly make an impact on the lives and souls of any who are placed under her care.
Please meet and welcome our new Housemother, Lori Bradford. She is a very sweet but experienced mother of eight, and grandmother. Her husband used to make furniture for our annual fundraising ban¨quetës silent auction in years past. They lived in Arizona for a few years when her husband passed away. Lori has recently returned to Green Bay and has taken on this most charitable work of staffing the M.O.M.ís home. God Bless her and her new lay apostolate.
Lori will be able to call upon an assistant housemother, Debbie Montgomery, who has agreed to help out at the MOMís home in the event that several mothers would take up residence. Currently there are no momís at the home, but it is ready and waiting for the next resident, who will be lovingly welcomed by Lori Bradford.
The other great news concerns the mortgage of the MOMís home -- there is none! Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor in December who offered to match incoming donations dollar for dollar, the pledge drive that netted $10,000 doubled to $20,000 and the mortgage was retired. Deo Gratias!
Opened in spring 2008, the mission of MOMís Home is to give new mothers and their children a warm, safe and secure home while they gain confidence and independence.
MOMís Home offers single mothers continuing education courses and compassionate support services. Providing practical necessities like food and shelter eases much of a motherís stress and financial burden, allowing her to focus on bettering her family situation, finding employment, establishing healthy habits, etc.
MOMís Home residents attend weekly classes given by experts on budgeting, parenting, practical life skills and healthy lifestyle choices.
MOMís Home is the fulfillment of Dorothy OíMallyís decades-long dream. Through her work with pregnant women, Dorothy recognized the need to help them beyond the pregnancy and birthing stages, and that the best prescription for a successful future was for these new families to begin in a place they could call "home."
With the help of many generous donors, volunteers, and much good will, the first MOMís home was opened in Allouez. Sadly, Dorothy OíMally passed away on January 15, 1999, and did not see her vision become reality. But her memory is best honored through this heartfelt mission.
